Kartika Refi
MTS, MA, LMFT-Associate
I believe the most significant factor for a successful counseling is the therapeutic relationship between clients and their therapist. I provide you with a safe, non-judgmental space that is conducive towards desirable change. It’s my mission, as a Catholic Christian counselor to bring Christ’s hope and healing to my clients.
I have helped individual couples and families with different backgrounds, including those who struggle with post-traumatic stress, sexual abuse, domestic violence, depression, grief, marital issues, unforgiveness, codependency, life transitions, and anxiety, just to name a few. I’m also familiar with issues around women’s mental wellness, including infertility, miscarriage, adoption, post-abortion trauma, religious anxiety, and cultural adjustment.
As a couple and marriage therapist, I specialize in attachment focused, systemic counseling. I have completed the Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) Externship and am currently going through EFT Advanced Core Skills Training program. I also have completed the Play Therapy training program, and although currently I don’t work with children, but the training certainly gave me a solid perspective in helping parents navigate their relationship with their children.
I’m originally from Indonesia and immigrated to Texas in 1998. Experiencing firsthand living in two different cultures, I respect and welcome diversity. I’ve been married for almost 26 years to my wonderful husband. We are blessed with three precious children (one in heaven) and a sweet goldendoodle. In my down time, I’m a homebody who enjoys cooking, singing, reading, and watching movies. My family and I are active parishioners of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville and St. Mary the Virgin Catholic Church in Arlington.

About
Our Lady of Good Counsel
I provide counseling from a Catholic Christian perspective, which means I see every person as an image-bearer of God. I value the dignity and uniqueness of every individual and of the special vocation corresponding to that dignity.
However, let it be understood that although my philosophy is based on my Catholic Christian faith, I will never impose it upon you. The therapy is contingent upon you to decide how or if you want to incorporate your faith system explicitly into therapy. After all, it is your journey!
